Pool Event cancelled
Msg from Mr. Chow:
Bad news everyone. In light of the 60% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms, the pool party is cancelled. We will try to reschedule if pool is available on a later date.

August update and Welcome Back
Message from Scoutmaster:
End of Summer Greetings Everyone,
As the start of another school year approaches, so do our Scouting activities.
We thought it would be a nice touch to throw an end-of-summer swimming party to kick things off.
We've reserved the Stafford pool next Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 for a swim party (they have both a low and high-dive board). All friends and family members are welcome. We would, of course, be very happy to welcome any prospective Scouts you may invite to join us as well. The pool is located on 1355 Constitution in Stafford.
I'll be working with the committee this week regarding our refreshment plan and will update you by this weekend. The current thinking is that we'll have pizzas by the slice and sodas available for a very nominal fee. There will be no charge for the pool party itself.
Regarding the startup of meetings:
Our new PLC will have its first meeting Tuesday, August 26th at 7:00 p.m. at Southminster to plan September meetings.
Our first troop meeting will be Tuesday September 2, at Southminster at 7:00 P.M..
We will hold Junior Leader Training for our new PLC members (and other interested boys) on Saturday, September 6, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Southminster.
Our September campout is tentatively scheduled for September 19 - 21 at Guadalupe State Park (think tubing).
We will release the remainder of the troop activity calendar, once we've confirmed our remaining reservations.
See you all next Tuesday.

Independence Day!
Independence Day or Fourth of July commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.
Happy Fourth everyone.
Philmont campers "should" be leaving camp today and headed towards Amarillo. They plan to spend the night at the scout hut provided by BSA Troop 80. Wonder if anyone will try to eat the steak at the Big Texan?
Arrival in Missouri City will be Saturday, July 5. I did not receive any communication while they were gone, some of you may have, but when I don't hear a peep, it's usually a good sign that all went well.
p.s. If you aren't flying an American Flag in your yard today but would like one, ask your scout to contact his Senior Patrol Leader and find out how one can be purchased from the troop.

Summer campers return/High Adventure departure
Campers returned safely from Sid Richardson and appeared to be in good shape. We hope to hear stories of their adventure soon. Thanks to all involved in the trips' success.
Philmont trek left a little later than planned. Missing a key component caused a lapse in take off. Thanks to Mr. Goodwin for graciously accepting an early wake-up call and providing an alternate tent.
Announcement to Philmont parents...trek originally communicated to return home on July 4 will actually be leaving camp on July 4 and arrive home on July 5. Again...arrival to Missouri City will be July 5.
