Campers returned safely from Sid Richardson and appeared to be in good shape. We hope to hear stories of their adventure soon. Thanks to all involved in the trips' success.
Philmont trek left a little later than planned. Missing a key component caused a lapse in take off. Thanks to Mr. Goodwin for graciously accepting an early wake-up call and providing an alternate tent.
Announcement to Philmont parents...trek originally communicated to return home on July 4 will actually be leaving camp on July 4 and arrive home on July 5. Again...arrival to Missouri City will be July 5.
At 10:08 am, the summer camp trek leader has communicated they expect to arrive at approx. 1:30pm this afternoon. First stop will be the YMCA. If lot is full, the troop will proceed on to the Southminster location.
The train keeps a rollin'...
Scouts depart for summer camper tomorrow, June 15. Meet at the YMCA on Cartwright (not Church lot on Sunday) at 8:15am, packed, dressed in Class A, with a carry on non-perishable lunch. To any parent that is unable to attend camp this week, consider throwing in a bag of chocolate chip cookies for the adult leaders on the trek (hint hint). They will appreciate it.
Have a great time scouts, be prepared, be safe, and be back next Saturday!
Today is Flag Day, tomorrow is Fathers Day. Why not give Dad his own flag to post in your own yard on those special occasions. Yes, the troop has flags for sale. Your scout can also benefit by displaying your flag and selling to his neighbors. If you are interested, ask me for details.
Thanks in advance to the adults that provided supervision assistance to the scouts that posted flags at the Quail Valley corner. Thanks to the scouts that participated. This is an ongoing project that makes a positive image in the community and we will continue to do this next month on Independence Day. I believe Mr. Chow is asking for volunteers to lead that holiday effort.
Printed troop calendar does not indicate a committee meeting this month. I bet that's a relief to some of us. However, a little scout birdie tells me there is one this coming Tuesday, June 17. Be looking for an emailed agenda from Mr. Chow soon.
Philmont campers will be leaving soon. Hope they are in shape, in sync, and in tune as a well oiled machine.
For those that may not know, this web site was proposed, developed and published originally by one of the troop graduates. Chris Atwood asked to do this while he was still in the troop. He held classes where he taught HTML to interested scouts and adults. The site today is the result of Chris' effort to "leave a trace" (wonder can I trademark that one?). The site has stood the test of time and the lack of education I have in trying to change everything on it. Chris is an Eagle scout and recently graduated from Texas Tech. Thanks for giving us this communication tool, congratulations and best of luck in the future Chris!
Stay tuned for more updates...
